Match Preview

Dundee Vs Motherwell
Dens Park, KO 3pm
5th November 2016

Referee: John Beaton
Linesmen: Alan Mulvanny, Ross Haswell
Fourth official: Scott Millar

Dundee will go into this match on the back of a much-needed win last weekend at Hamilton. They will also be hoping to claim their first win at home this season. So far we have saw the Dee kick off six times, drawing two and tasting defeat on four occasions.

A win on Saturday could potentially see the Dee move off the bottom if other results go our way. If Ross County and Hamilton fail to win and Dundee beat Motherwell, we would see the Dark Blues move up to tenth. We could also move up to the lofty heights of ninth if these results happen and Dundee manage to put three goals without reply past Motherwell.

A draw would see us only able to move up to eleventh place if County fail to muster a point against Rangers while a defeat will see us remain rooted at the bottom for another few weeks due to Scotland being on international duty the week after.

Motherwell will be on a high coming into this match. They took apart Ross County at Fir Park 4-1 which could and should have been by a lot more goals. Ross County are on a worse run of form than ourselves now but that doesn’t take away how lethal the Steelmen were in front of goal and how dangerous they will be.

Nicky Low and Kevin Gomis look like they will be fit for this tie and should feature, at least on the bench. Scott Bain was reported by The Courier to be returning to training on Thursday but it’s yet to be seen if he has overcome his groin injury yet. Paul McGowan will take his usual spot despite coming off with a small groin injury on Saturday.

Mark O’Hara and Fassial El Bakhtaoui are still a few weeks away from making their first team comebacks.

This season we have faced Motherwell at Fir Park with the match ending in a 0-0 draw.

Memorable Match

Motherwell 0-3 Dundee (Sara 2, Rae)
26th December 2000

Dundee served up a late Christmas present for the Dundee fans but serving up this Boxing Day cracker.december-26th-2000-vs-motherwell

Gavin Rae found the back of the net and Juan Sara struck twice to claim all three points against a Motherwell side that never looked like causing Dundee any problems. Even when Marcello Marocco was on the receiving end of a red card, the host never threatened this Dundee team.

This win would move Dundee up to sixth place from eighth and Motherwell the opposite from sixth to eighth.
